Custom Recovery: Custom recovery is a replacement of stock recovery and which allow us various advanced options that stock recovery don’t have. With Custom Recovery can install official firmware as well as unofficial firmware, updated apps, themes, and kernels etc. The most popular custom recovery is ClockworkMod CWM Recovery and TWRP Recovery. There are many others custom recovery available that actually based on either CWM recovery or TWRP recovery such as Boot Menu Manager (BMM), SafeStrap, or Philz Touch recovery.
Today will guide about how to install CWM recovery (current latest version is 6.0.4.7) and TWRP recovery (current latest version is 2.8.0.1) on your device. This installation guide requires a rooted device, so you must have to root your Android smartphone or tablet. This guide includes latest Galaxy S, Xperia Z and HTC One. However, official CWM recovery or TWRP recovery are not available for your device.
Steps to Install Custom Recovery on Android Devices
Install ClockworkMod\CWM Recovery on Android devices
Step1. Download and install the ROM Manager app from Play Store. Link
Step2. Then tap on Recovery Setup and select ClockworkMod Recovery under Install or Update Recovery.
Step3. Now confirm your device and in next screen tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step4. Now app downloads the recovery from the internet and then asks for Superuser permission. Allow the Superuser permission.
Step5: Now on ROM Manager tap on Reboot into Recovery, confirm it, and then your device will boot into CWM Recovery
That’s it! Your Android device now has latest version of CWM recovery installed.
Install TWRP Recovery on Android devices
Step1. Download and install TWRP Manager from Play Store. Link
Step2. Open TWRP Manager, Update BusyBox at first run. Tap on OK. After updating BusyBox, Open TWRP again, and tap on Install TWRP. Check device details. Click on Install Recovery to start the installation of TWRP
Step3. Now confirm your action and follow on screen instruction.
Step4. Now tap on Reboot recovery to boot your device Confirm your action.
