Prerequisite:

• Properly backup your complete data on your phone

• Extract only boot.img file separately in a folder on your computer.

Download and setup ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer [Click here]

Steps to update HTC One M8 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Doppelkanger Custom ROM

Step-1: Connect your HTC One M8 to your computer via USB data cable.

Step-2: Now copy the Android 5.1.1 Doppelkanger ROM .zip file on your phone storage root folder (not in any subfolder).

Step-3:  Now Copy the boot.img file on “Android-SDK program\platform-tools folder”.

Step-4: Now disconnect your phone from the computer. Then turn it off.

Step-5: Now boot your HTC One M8 on bootloader mode to go [Press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons] at the same time.

Step-6: Now on your PC navigate to androidd-sdk-windows\platform-tools folder, While your device is on the Fastboot Mode, and open Command Prompt [Hold Shift key + Right-click on a white empty space on that folder> then select “Open Command Window here”

Step-7:  Now enter the following command and press Enter.

“fastboot flash boot boot.img”

Step-8: Next enter the following command and press Enter.

“fastboot reboot”

Step-9: Now on your phone navigate and select Bootloader and then select Recovery.

Step-10: Now on TWRP Recovery, you should have to perform full data wipe. > Now tap on the “Wipe” button. Then swipe on the “Swipe to Factory Reset” option at the bottom of the screen.

Step-11: Now on main TWRP Recovery menu tap on the “Install” button. And then from the list choose and select the Doppelkanger ROM .ZIP file that you have copied on your phone root storage in Step 2.

Step-12: On the next screen confirm the installation, by swiping on the “Swipe to Confirm Flash” option at the bottom of the screen. The installation process should start now.

Step-13: When the installation is get finished, Tap on the “Wipe cache/Dalvik” button on Main TWRP Menu, if you getting boot loops or other issues.

Step-14: Now on TWRP recovery main menu tap on “Reboot > System” buttons, to reboot your phone

Step-15: Now HTC One M8 will boot and might take a few minutes on first boot up after flashing ROM, be patient
